Problems with reach-in coolers solved with installation of Hot Shot

After experiencing problems with several reach-in coolers at the Turner Field baseball park, Aramark Corporation's maintenance manager, Garry Cupp, found a cure in ICOR International's Hot Shot refrigerant. "After losing several compressors on reach-in coolers charged with R-134a," Cupp said, "we decided to charge the units with Hot Shot. The change over was easily done since no oil changes were required." Cupp added, "This is the beginning of the fourth baseball season since the units have been converted to Hot Shot, and we have not had any problems."

Exclusive Replacement Refrigerant for R12 Conversions

There were several factors that influenced our company to use HOT SHOT as our exclusive replacement refrigerant for R12 conversions. I think that one of the most important was the fact that all the other R12 replacement refrigerants were known to alter the superheat of the evaporators. This translated into a trial and error method of altering the capillary tube length of the system, cut some off and try the system. If the superheat was not within specifications, reclaim the system, reopen it and try cutting a little more off. This was a real burden on the technicians and cost the end user to pay for a longer service call. Hot Shot (R414B) requires no modification to the capillary tube or TXV because it does not alter the superheat. This has proven to be a real cost saving to our customers and a time saver to the technician. This by far the easiest R12 replacement product to use .... Thank You for a GREAT product !

I have been using HOT SHOT for about 2 years now. I have never had any problems with it as I had with other R-12 Replacements. Before I found HOT SHOT I was using an other "direct replacement" refrigerant and I was losing compressors about 25% of the time. Normally they would give out after about 3 weeks. I be live it was because the refrigerant was not circulating the oil causing early faille. With HOT SHOT I Haven't lost any new compressors.

BETTER than 409A or R12

Seems to perform BETTER than 409A or R12. I will be using it from this point forward to replace these refrigerants in my refrigerated and frozen vending machines and my walk in storage facilities.
Lower operating pressures are likely to prolong the life of the compressors. An added bonus!

We lost the charge in an R-12 meat walk in cooler off of a cutting room. Talking with our supplier at Johnstone Supply he recommended Hot Shot over mp39. We tried it. This walk-in always had problems with icing up. After changing the oil but staying with mineral oil we charged the system at 80% of original. Instantly we could feel the cold difference between R-12 and Hot Shot. We haven't had to do any adjustment since the install 2 months ago. All we get is an excellent white cold evaporator no ice buildup . We are sold.

Ever since the introduction of Hot Shot (414b) retrofits have been more reliable, electrical consumption has decreased and overall performance has been increased. Lower condensing pressures and great oil return are just some of the great benefits. I've tried MP66, 409a, 134a and others but this is just a great product. We have used it is large tonnage recipe's and screws. With no problems and happy customers you have created a great product.

Living in the southwest desert, cool air is vital in our homes and automobiles. My experience with HotShot came after an extensive search for alternative refrigerants. I found a reference to HotShot online at www.TheDieselPage.com, and found more info on the ICOR web site. That convinced me to try Hotshot in my own 1994 Chevy that I was installing a new engine in. The process was quite simple, certainly no different from other refrigerants, and I was amazed at the immediate results. The temperature indicated on that first afternoon was below 40 degrees F., and since that first day, it cools regularly at 30 to 32 degrees F. I've never seen anything like it. The high side pressure is less than w/ other refrigerants, and that means increased compressor life. I hope to convince our Fleet Department to give HotShot a fair chance in our fire apparatus. The cooler air and reduced stress on the system would be of considerable benefit to the firefighters and to the Fleet Department alike. I certainly recommend it to my associates.

In the 5 years that I've used HOTSHOT to retrofit R-12 machines, I have seen excellent results consistently. Never have I been surprised or disappointed after dropping in HOTSHOT.
Using standard industry service practices including leak repair, filter-drier replacement, dehydration to 500 Microns, accurate charging/handling, etc. are required (as you should in any retrofit) to ensure expected results. The performance of this refrigerant is never in question, because I get consistent results.

I would recommend HOTSHOT for both stationary equipment and mobile applications. You will be satisfied.

I first heard of Hot Shot at Johnstone Supply some time ago when I worked for an ice company. They had plenty of R-12 and recycled, so I had no need to use other refrigerants. When I went to another company, they used R-409 instead of R-12, and adjusting pressure controls was a pain in the @#*! Recently, after I repaired a leak in a walk-in cooler it had low R-12 charge, so I replaced the refrigerant with Hot Shot, R-414B. With no adjusting controls, the system worked fine. I intend to use Hot Shot in all R-12 systems from here on out.

GREATER OMAHA REFRIGERATION NAMES HOT SHOT AS THE BEST ALTERNATIVE TO R-12

When Terry Meester of Nebraska's Greater Omaha Refrigeration heard about HOT SHOT, he was buying another R-12 replacement. "Then I called the manufacturer, ICOR International," Meester said. "I did a lot of testing on it and found out what a great product it is. Then I converted everything-from bars, reach-ins, ice machines, ice cream freezers, anything really, with HOT SHOT. It works real well, at less cost. To me it's the best alternative to R-12."

ADELPHIA SEAFOOD RECOMMENDS ICOR INTERNATIONAL'S HOT

Paul Catanzaro, plant engineer at Adelphia Seafoods in Reading, Pennsylvania, is in charge of all heating, cooling, and refrigeration units in its corporate buildings and vehicles. Adelphia Seafoods is a wholesale and retail food distributor, primarily selling fresh and frozen seafood.
"It's highly critical that seafood be kept at the proper temperature," Catanzaro says. After (HOT SHOT) worked well in a vehicle, he decided to try it on stationary and found out that HOT SHOT actually performed with greater efficiency than R-12. Adelphia uses HOT SHOT in its buildings, display cases and refrigerated trucks. "I think it's great," Catanzaro added. "You don't ever have to change the oil- just remove the R-12 and put the HOT SHOT in. It's more efficient. You charge only 80% of the R-12 charge."

Jerry Walters is an executive with Medicab, a Columbus, Indiana, based company that provides non-emergency medical transportation in rural southern Indiana. Sister companies are located in Kentucky and West Virginia. Cost containment led Medicab to hire its own mechanics to keep its 75-80 vehicle fleet on the roads.
